Quadram Institute Bioscience has announced the appointment of Dr Graeme Brown as its first Chief Business Officer.

Dr Brown will join the team at the Quadram Institute on the Norwich Research Park from his position as Director of Technology Transfer at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and Executive Director of its research commercialisation company Queen Mary Innovation Ltd.

Having trained and worked for a number of years in the field of human molecular genetics in the Department of Pathology in Cambridge, Graeme then spent two years at the Wellcome Trust in London before joining QMUL in 2003 as business development manager, becoming Director of Technology Transfer in 2005.

With 17 years’ experience of leading and delivering the commercialisation of university research, Graeme has significant experience in setting up high-value research collaborations and partnerships with industry, licensing research innovations, creating new technology spinout companies and securing investment, as well as holding non-executive board positions on various spinouts.

The role of Chief Business Officer at the Quadram encompasses responsibility for Business Development and Communications, and Dr Brown will take up his new post on 8 June.
