Head of Business Development and Commercialisation
Dr Roberto Zanchi is responsible for leading the Quadram Institute Business Development team to seek and triage opportunities for the exploitation of knowledge and their translation in real world applications.
He connects relevant internal groups with external stakeholders and provides supports to the BD team in commercial negotiations and IP matters. He also develops an entrepreneurial culture at the institute by promoting opportunities for and supporting bids to accelerator programs and pitch to investors.
Business Development Manager
Dr Laila Roper supports the development of translational research in Quadram Institute Bioscience.
Through reinforcing existing relationships and establishing new ones outside the Higher Education sector, she works to increase knowledge exchange, identify opportunities for collaborative research and increase funded research from relevant external bodies. She is the point of contact for research relating to Microbes and Food Safety.
Commercialisation Manager
Dr Stephen Rhind works with scientific colleagues and group leaders to help them translate their research work into partnerships, licences or other commercial arrangements.
His focus is on developing relationships and creating collaborations with commercial partners and is passionate about negotiating commercial contacts and making deals. He is the point of contact for research relating to Food, Microbes and Health.
Business Development Manager
Dr Leanne Williams joins us from Leaf Expression Systems where she led the business and sales efforts for their technology platform and services, representing the company at international meetings and driving significant revenues through commercial partnerships. Leanne also brings valuable product development experience from her time at Abcam, where she successfully launched new product lines.
Leanne earned a PhD in plant molecular biology and biochemistry at Imperial College London and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Nottingham. Her career uniquely blends extensive technical expertise and a deep understanding of the intersection between academia and commercial ventures, which she will continue to leverage in her new business development role at Quadram.
