I am a MMB PhD student in Arjan Narbad’s group. My project is to understand why the gut microbe, Bilophila wadsworthia, switches from a commensal to pathogenic state, potentially contributing to obesity and other metabolic disorders. The project will also focus on the translational applications to identify therapeutic dietary interventions.
I graduated from the University of Manchester with a BSc Microbiology where I became interested in the gut microbiome, acting as a regulator of the local and systemic immune response. Later, I completed A MSc Bioinformatics at the university of Liverpool where I applied mathematical models to understand the effect of cell geometry on the distribution of proteins within budding yeasts during division.
