Mechanisms regulating the gut-liver axis during health and disease

Links/websites:

I am a PhD student in Dr. Naiara Beraza’s laboratory at the Quadram Institute. My PhD is funded through the BBSRC-supported Norwich Research Park Biosciences Doctoral Training Partnership (NRPDTP).

My work focuses on how cellular senescence influences the gut–liver axis during metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). I am particularly interested in how senescent cells affect intestinal barrier function and contribute to changes in liver health.

Prior to my PhD, I completed a Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology at the Medical University of Lodz, where I investigated the therapeutic potential of a specific pharmacological compound for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colitis-associated colorectal cancer.
