Synthetic biology and biosynthetic pathways

In 2019, I graduated with BSc Biochemistry from University of East Anglia where I undertook research projects in a variety of different fields: the biochemistry of topoisomerases, a group of enzymes that change the shape and structure of DNA and the structural biology of NLRs, disease resistant proteins in rice.

Following my undergraduate degree, I worked for the NHS as a Healthcare assistant at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and for two biotechnology companies; the first a start up focusing on more productive and sustainable tropical agriculture using innovative genetic technologies and the second a company supporting drug discovery providing enzymes and screening services to researchers around the world.

I am currently undertaking a PhD which uses molecular biology, genetics and biochemistry to engineer the metabolism of bacteria so that we can use them to create vitamins, such as vitamin B12.
