My project with the Webber group aims to investigate how multispecies biofilms evolve to stress and how this stress might affect the movement of mobile genetic elements and the evolution of antimicrobial resistance in these biofilms. Previous to beginning my PhD, I completed a BSc. in Biochemistry at Aberystwyth University, where I undertook a project on investigating novel antimicrobials in myxobacteria and an MRes. in Medical and Molecular Biosciences at Newcastle University where I researched CRISPR-Cas systems in uropathogenic E. coli to investigate the potential phage therapy has as a treatment for recurrent urinary tract infections in the future.
