Mechanisms regulating the gut-liver axis during health and disease

I am a BBSRC funded DTP PhD student in Dr Beraza’s lab. My research focuses upon the link between the intestinal microbiome and liver, in particular investigating how this affected by antibiotics in both health and during liver disease.

In summer 2020 I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a first-class master’s degree in Biochemistry and microbiology. Through the course of my degree, I was engaged in a few research projects- involving industrial biotechnology, medical microbiology, and immune cell dynamics.

In my project with Dr Beraza, I hope to apply what I have learnt to an exciting and innovative project, the implications and upshot of which could be highly significant both clinically and scientifically.
