In July 2024, I joined Professor Simon Carding’s lab group where I will conduct my Invest in ME Research Luna Nova Fellowship. As a recent entrant to the field of ME research, I am deeply motivated to contribute to ongoing investigations into the causes and treatment options for ME/CFS at the Quadram Institute.
My research will primarily focus on understanding the link between the reactivation of human endogenous retroviruses and the accelerated ageing of immune cells in ME/CFS patients.Additionally, my project will be part of the RESTORE-ME clinical trial, a phase IIb, placebo-controlled trial investigating microbiota replacement therapy in ME/CFS patients at QIB.
I have a strong research background in virology and extensive experience studying various viruses and their interactions with host cells and the immune system. I am excited to bring this expertise to the ME/CFS research field and contribute to advancing our understanding of the disease.
