I got my B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, in July 2008. I was awarded my M.Sc. degree in August 2013 and my Ph.D. degree in March 2021, both in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry at Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. I joined the Quadram Institute as a visiting postdoctoral scientist in the Kroon Group in January 2023.

At the Quadram Institute, I am engaged in cutting-edge studies combining analytical chemistry and gut microbiome research. My research focuses on studying the role of gut microbiota in determining the bioavailability and metabolism of polyphenols using in vitro fermentation colon model experiments, including assessing the influence of colonic pH on gut microbial metabolism. Other activities include metabolic profiling of crude plant extracts utilising advanced Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and quantitative metabolomic analysis of biological samples to evaluate the bioavailability of polyphenols. My work aims to advance the understanding of polyphenol metabolism and their interactions with the gut microbiome.
