Nutrition at the host–microbe interface

I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology and a Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnologies. I am currently a PhD student in Life Sciences at the University of Siena, where I focus on the role of gut microbiota in mucosal and systemic immunity and and inflammation in ageing.

As part of my PhD, I am undertaking a six-month research period abroad at the Quadram Institute in Lizbeth Sayavedra’s group, where I investigate nitrogen fixation by non-pathogenic anaerobic isolates and explore the effects of low-protein diets on nitrogen fixation.
