Quadram Institute Communications team given ‘Mark of Excellence’

2nd July 2026

The Quadram Institute’s Communications team were presented with a ‘Mark of Excellence’ at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ 42nd annual Excellence Awards, held in London on July 1st

The Communications and External relations team of Andrew Stronach, Ruby O’Grady, Andrew Chapple & Clemence Blanchard were recognised in the In-House PR Team of the Year (Not-for-Profit/Public/Charity Sector).

The Mark of Excellence was awarded by the CIPR’s panel of judges in recognition of the outstanding work the team has delivered in developing the reputation and recognition of the Quadram Institute over the last five years.

Using an evidence-based strategy focused on advocacy for the excellent and impactful science delivered by Quadram Institute’s researchers among key stakeholders has doubled public awareness of the institute as well as reaching new audiences online and via social media, which has demonstrably supported student recruitment and the wider work of the institute.

Policy engagement has been a particular success, with a range of key policymakers and dignitaries to visit the institute to build advocacy. This included a visit from Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal who subsequently become Patron of the institute in 2025.

The Mark of Excellence recognises the team’s commitment to professionalism in public relations, and continual development; establishing a public relations apprentice role (the institute’s first ever apprentice) further embeds best practice in the team.

Head of External Relations Andrew Stronach said: “This award underlines the excellent work the Quadram communications team does communicating the impact of our scientific research to a wide range of audiences. To have been judged against the best of the best nationally is a real tribute to the creativity and skill of the team.”
