The Institute of Food Research (IFR) is a world leading research institution in the area of food, diet and health . It is at the heart of the Norwich Research Park, a leading centre providing a critical mass in life science research.

We wish to recruit new Research Leaders to run internationally excellent and innovative research programmes to complement the ongoing science. Particular areas include food structure, gut microbiology and foodborne pathogens. However, all aspects of food and health science will be considered and outstanding candidates with an ambitious and original research project are strongly encouraged to apply.

Norwich Research Park

Institute Research Leaders benefit from a collegiate and supportive atmosphere and a cutting edge interdisciplinary environment. The scientific research at IFR makes use of a wide range of disciplines in the biological sciences, including microbiology, cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, genomics and computational and mathematical biology. The Genome Analysis Centre is also located on the Norwich Research Park.

Appointments can be made at any level dependent on the candidate’s experience. Research support and laboratory facilities are excellent. The budget includes the salary for the Research Leader, a full time Research Assistant, part-time secretarial assistance, basic laboratory equipment, a substantial contribution to running costs and essential large equipment, and access to on-site facilities including state-of-the-art platform ‘omics-based technologies. There are excellent collaborations with clinical scientists at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
