Three new Trustees join Board of Quadram Institute Bioscience

Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB) is delighted to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees.
The new trustees are Tim Edwards, Ian Puddephat and Paul Quinlan.
Tim Edwards has extensive experience in biopharmaceuticals and is Chair of three VC-backed private companies. Previously Tim was a Governing Board member of Innovate UK, the UK’s Innovation agency, Non-Executive Director of the Cell & Gene Therapy Catapult; Chair of the UK BioIndustry Association, and a member of the Dept of Health ‘Ministerial Industry Strategy Group (Life Sciences)’.
Drs Ian Puddephat and Paul Quinlan are both scientists with extensive experience of working in the food industry. Ian is Senior Vice President for Science Platforms and Application Sciences at Pepsico. Paul is a creative business leader with 38 years’ experience in innovation and business development within the Food & Beverage, Agribusiness and Life Science sectors

They each bring a wealth of innovation and industry experience to the Quadram Institute as a leader in the field of research into food and nutrition, gut microbiology, and human health.”
Tim Edwards
In the past 25 years Tim has worked in three sectors: innovative life sciences, education and financial services, with leadership experience gained in both private and listed companies. He is currently Chair of Schroders Capital Global Innovation Trust plc and the Institute for Research in Schools.
Tim has led two companies to exit by trade sale: as Chair of Atopix Therapeutics Limited acquired by Chiesi Farmaceutici S.P.A. in 2016; and President and Chief Executive Officer of Cellzome Inc. acquired by GlaxoSmithKline plc in 2012.
Ian Puddephat
Ian holds a PhD in Horticulture from Nottingham University in the UK. He is an honorary professor at Warwick University and a visiting professor at Cranfield University. Ian is accountable for building a One PepsiCo Science Strategy and scale-able, enterprise-level Science Platforms, across PepsiCo’s Food and Beverage categories.
As the Senior Vice President for Science Platforms and Application Sciences function, he brings extensive scientific expertise, partnering and leadership experience to teams who work across Foods and Beverage in Measurement Sciences, Flavor, Seasoning, Ingredients and Agricultural Sciences.
Paul Quinlan

Paul is a creative business leader with 38 years’ experience in Innovation and business development within the Food & Beverage, Agribusiness and Life Science sectors. After joining Unilever R&D with a PhD in Biochemistry from Bristol, Paul went on to hold many leadership positions in Unilever – directing innovation programmes, new business development, partnership/ecosystem development, strategy and operations
A focus throughout Paul’s career has been the development of health and nutrition-based innovations and functional foods. He has also published >30 scientific papers in this field. This has included development of a biotechnology derived ingredient for infant nutrition, development of health claims and new functional foods for global tea brands.
