Applications are invited for a Business Development Officer to join the team at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.

Background:

The Quadram Institute is a new interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to understanding how food and microbes interact to promote health and prevent disease. Its mission is to deliver healthier lives through innovation in gut health, microbiology and food. A partnership between Quadram Institute Bioscience, the University of East Anglia, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and BBSRC, it brings together scientists and clinicians in a state-of-the-art building on the Norwich Research Park. This is one of Europe’s largest centres of life sciences and home of the John Innes Centre and The Earlham Institute.

The role:

The main role of the Business Development Officer will be to support the Head of Business Development and, where needed, the Business Development team, in their engagement with external organisations to seek out funding opportunities for QIB Group Leaders. The main objective of the role will be to support the team to increase knowledge exchange, generate impact, identify opportunities for collaborative research and increase funded research from relevant external bodies. The role will help document and track business development activities, coordinate plans, organise visits of, and to, various stakeholders, prepare agendas and meetings.

Other key areas of the role will include supporting the attendance to business conferences and networking events.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will be educated to BSc level or equivalent within a relevant scientific field (biology, chemistry, bio-technology, food science) and possess project management skills and experience in organising the development of scientific and business development for life sciences activities. Ideally, they will possess knowledge of database management, supporting meetings preparation and documenting within a research environment, and have a demonstrable ability to co-ordinate a range of different stakeholders visits.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £24,815 to £30,270 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, permanent post.

This position is offered as a developmental opportunity. The Institute will put in place an appropriate training package following the successful completion of the probationary period. This could include a formal qualification (Chartered Management Institute qualification or equivalent) and mentoring support.
