Funded GP Fellowship Opportunity

Applications Close: 07 October 2019

Contract Length: 1 year

We have an exciting opportunity to share with GPs who are less than five years post CCT and ST3s who are near completion of their course. Quadram Institute Bioscience and the Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome charity Invest in ME Research are co-hosting a research Fellowship for 1 year. This incredible opportunity will see a GP work with a world leading team of researchers studying severely affected ME patients, and the interactions between the gut microbiome and the gut-brain axis. The successful applicant will assist with ongoing research, have direct patient contact, may have the opportunity to contribute to a clinical trial and work in state of the art laboratories at the research centre in Norwich Research Park, NR4 7UQ.

Employment

The Fellowship requires that a GP is practising for 2 days (4 sessions) per week performing standard patient facing practice.

There are two distinct employment options with this opportunity:

  1. You are already employed in general practice, and we would work with you and your employer to organise the additional time and funding required to complete the Fellowship.
  2. You do not have an employer currently, and we would work with you to identify a practice that would support your employment during the Fellowship*

*Please note, this is not a guaranteed offer of employment in general practice. But rather we will work with you to find a suitable practice who would be happy to support you on the Fellowship.

Fellowship Structure:

In addition to completing 2 days (4 sessions) per week in general practice. The Fellow will spend 1 day (2 sessions) per week in this research post AND 1 day (2 sessions) per week completing education and training that complements the nature of the Fellowship.

The additional days / sessions in the research post and in the education and training are funded respectively.
