Laboratory Support Technician

We’re looking for two Laboratory Support Technicians to join the Science Operations Department at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.
The Laboratory Support Team is part of QIB Science Operations which helps enable scientific research project work.
The role
The post holders will provide a high standard of technical support to academic and research staff in the Quadram Institute.
The post holders will support work in our busy and diverse research laboratory areas following protocols and good laboratory practice. They will be involved in general housekeeping, disposal of hazardous waste, cleaning glassware, media preparation, stock management and providing services to underpin the research programmes and postgraduate student projects. They will also support health and safety, monitoring safety equipment and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
The post holders will be expected to work flexibly, which could occasionally include out of hours/weekend work.
The ideal candidate
It is essential that candidates have at least 3 A-levels Grades A-E, or equivalent qualification. They must also possess GCSEs, or equivalent, in Maths, English and Science. While not essential, it would be advantageous if candidates held an HNC/BSc or equivalent.
The ideal candidates will be organised, show attention to detail and be able to work independently but with excellent team working and communication skills. Recent experience of working in a multiuser biological research laboratory is essential.
Additional information
Salary on appointment will be within the range £23,250 to £25,400 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post for a contract offered on an indefinite basis.

The Quadram Institute is a new interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to understanding how food and microbes interact to promote health and prevent disease.
