Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician/Assistant to join the Technical Support Team at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.
Background
The Technical Support Team is part of QIB Science Operations which helps enable scientific research project work.
The role
The post holder will provide a high standard of technical support to academic and research staff in the Quadram Institute.
The post holder will maintain working areas following protocols and good laboratory practice and support our busy and diverse research laboratories. The post holder will be involved in general housekeeping, glassware handling, media preparation, stock management and providing services to underpin the research programmes and postgraduate student projects. They will also provide an essential core service support that has key health and safety duties.
The post holder will be expected to work flexibly, which could occasionally include out of hours/weekend work.
The ideal candidate
It is essential that candidates have at least 3 A-levels, or equivalent. They must also possess GCSEs, or equivalent, in Maths, English and Science. The ideal candidate will be organised, show attention to detail and be able to work independently but with excellent team working and communication skills. Recent experience of working in a multiuser biological research laboratory is essential.
Additional information
Salary on appointment will be within the range £22,000 to £26,750 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post offered on an indefinite basis.
