Applications are invited for a Laboratory Technician to join the Laboratory of Naiara Beraza in the Gut Microbes and Health Programme at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.
The Beraza Lab focuses on the mechanisms mediating the gut-microbiome-liver axis communication during health and its influence on host metabolic function.
The successful candidate will join a project focused on understanding gut-microbes-liver interactions. In this project, samples obtained from different transgenic mice will be analysed as well as from germ free mice that have been conventionalised with different microbes. The successful candidate will analyse liver and intestinal tissues as well as the microbiome composition obtained from these animals in different experimental contexts.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have proven knowledge and expertise on molecular and cell biology methodologies including nucleic acid and protein extraction and further analysis by PCR, qPCR, immunoblotting, ELISA and immunohistochemistry.
Experience in histopathological processing and analysis of tissues, flow cytometry and animal handling are desirable.
The ideal candidate will have excellent record keeping and time management skills.
Salary on appointment will be within the range £19,250 to £23,321 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post is for a contract of 23 months.
