Applications are invited for a Programme Manager to join the Microbes in the Food Chain Programme at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.

Background

Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based within the new Quadram Institute, seeks to improve human health by reducing the problems caused by pathogens in the food chain. We aim to deliver an enhanced understanding of the ecology, evolution and survival strategies of microbes in the food chain, including the drivers of antimicrobial resistance

The role

The post holder will work closely with the Microbes in the Food Chain (MFC) Institute Strategic Programme (ISP) group leaders to monitor progress on completing ISP research objectives according to deadlines and within budget. This includes coordinating the efforts of ISP Group Leaders and researchers based at QIB and at other Institutes and Universities to deliver ISP objectives according to schedule.

The post holder will organise the ISP reporting cycle and coordinate and collate reports to the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and QIB Management along with the preparation and submission of the ISP’s five yearly funding proposal to BBSRC.

The post holder will organise, in conjunction with MFC leads, and chair monthly Group Leader and ISP research meetings and coordinate related scientific activity.

The ideal candidate

The post holder will be highly organised, have strong attention to detail and good one-to-one communication skills. The ability to prioritise activities and convince others to prioritise activities is vital. The ideal candidate will have a biological sciences background with experience of project or programme-level management. Ideally, they will have an understanding of research funding and practice in the UK.

Additional information

Salary on appointment will be within the range £31,625 to £38,575 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.  This is a full-time post offered on a permanent basis; part-time will be considered.

About the Quadram Institute

The Quadram Institute is a new interdisciplinary research institute at the forefront of a new era in food and health research. Its mission is to understand how food and the gut microbiota are linked to the promotion of health and the prevention of disease.
