Applications are invited for a Project Manager to join the Microbes in the Food Chain Programme at the Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.
Background:
This role presents an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to support the establishment of a new UK Food Safety Research Network based at the Quadram Institute Bioscience. This Network is intended to launch in early Spring 2022 to connect the food industry, food and health policymakers, and researchers to collaboratively pursue shared research priorities that will protect the UK from foodborne hazards.
The role is based at Quadram Institute Bioscience. QIB, part of the Quadram Institute, delivers interdisciplinary excellence across the areas of clinical practice, clinical research and food and health science. It is the first international centre of research and clinical excellence of its kind working in the area of food and health. The Quadram Institute is a UKRI funded facility at the interface between food science gut biology, food safety and health.
The role:
In this position, the Project Manager will engage and motivate Network members and partners to identify food safety challenges and then support them to design a collaborative programme of research and innovation to deliver against these challenges. The post holder will act as secretariat to the Network Executive and Board and lead the development and ongoing delivery of core Network processes and their day-to-day management. This role will suit someone who has extensive network and project management skills, including suitable experience of working with and coordinating senior stakeholders to define and deliver against complex, multidisciplinary goals.
The Project Manager will also be responsible for monitoring and recording the progress of multiple workstreams delivering against Network objectives according to deadlines and within budget. This will necessitate liaising with the Network’s members at other Institutions and within Quadram. The Project Manager will facilitate the dissemination of Network developments through an active knowledge exchange and communications strategy supported by colleagues at Quadram.
The post holder will also be expected to communicate directly with the Network’s funders, the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), to coordinate and collate reports to meet their financial and progress reporting requirements.
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level with experience of managing collaborative projects or programmes. A science background with experience of research or programme management would be advantageous. They must have the ability to record outputs and generate clear reports for funders and collaborators as well as the ability to interpret, synthesise and summarise research-relevant information from scientists.
Additional information:
Salary on appointment will be within the range £32,258 to £39,938 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post for a contract of 2 years.
