The Quadram Institute is a new interdisciplinary research institute at the forefront of a new era in food and health research. It brings together clinical and non-clinical scientists in a new state-of-the-art building due for completion in 2018. It is based on the Norwich Research Park, one of the largest centres of life sciences in Europe, and home of the John Innes Centre, The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, The Earlham Institute and the University of East Anglia.

We are now seeking applications from creative early-career or established researchers who wish to develop independent programs delivering scientific excellence and social and economic impact in food and health research across the four research themes of the Quadram Institute (QI): Gut health and the microbiome; Healthy ageing; Food innovation and health; Food safety and genomics of foodborne pathogens.

We would be particularly interested in receiving applications for the following posts:
•     Biology of Campylobacter
•     Neurology and the gut-microbiome-brain axis – understanding the basis of bi-directional signalling between the brain and gut microbes in health and disease
•     Gut microbial ecology – identifying the underlying factors that shape gut microbial communities throughout the lifecourse
•     Mycobiome – the structure and function of the fungal component of microbiomes in health and disease
•     Mathematical modelling – modelling interactions between gut microbes and sensory cells of the intestinal epithelium

Applicants must have a PhD, significant experience of leading and developing a successful research programme and research teams, be able to demonstrate an impressive publication record and have experience of achieving considerable research funding
The main criteria on which appointments are made are scientific excellence, ability to obtain research funding and the potential social and economic impact of the proposed research program. Appointments can be made on a tenured or tenure track basis at a range of levels, depending on experience.
